Extra Region SudokuWelcome to the Extra Region Sudoku section of the Puzzle Club. This puzzle is also sometimes called Hypersudoku. Extra Regions is a generic type of sudoku puzzle that has - surprisingly enough - more regions than the standard puzzle. A standard sudoku puzzle has 27 regions - 9 x rows, columns and boxes. Some sudoku variants play with the shape of the box regions, whilst other variants add regions. The most well known extra region sudoku is the Sudoku X region, which adds two regions - the diagonals. You may also have played offset sudoku here, which has 9 extra regions - with each position in each 3 x 3 box making up the extra regions. This variant here has four extra regions - four additional 9 x 9 boxes added to the standard 9 boxes, making 31 regions in total. Enjoy! You may find these puzzles quite tricky or quite easy - mostly it depends on remembering the extra regions are there and using them to solve the puzzle! We have coloured them to help you remember that they are there. Why not try a Sample Extra Region Sudoku puzzle, and then enjoy the 100 puzzles below: Book of Hypersudoku Puzzles. |
