Should the puzzle forums be open access?...

Wondering about making these puzzle forums open access to the thousand or so visitors who wonder across the site each day.

The possible advantage would be more posts and traffic, of course the down side is spam posts, rubbish and similar that requires a lot of time to delete... at the moment with only premier members having access this doesn't happen.

If you have any thoughts then please do share them here!!!

It might be an idea to give open access to the forum. You could always trial it for a while and see just what posts you did get. At the moment, it doesn't seem you would have a lot to lose, as the forum isn't doing much, and it would be nice to try and generate a bit more puzzle chat if poss.

Anyone else got any thoughts on this?

I agree with Christine's views. Open access could generate more visitors. More old friends from the Mindgames forum might even visit - you never know. The spam thing might be a problem, but only a trial can tell how well open access will work and the level of spam you might get.

The "My Puzzles" thread could also encourage the more creative visitors to download their own puzzles, or provide links to them, thereby generating more freebies on the website alongside your sample puzzles.

They are now open access; a line of text on the forum homepage links to a login for just the forums...
